The Department of General Chemistry provides didactic activities in the Chemistry field within bachelor's and master's degree programs at "POLITEHNICA" University of Bucharest, for the faculties with non-chemical profile.

The Department of General Chemistry coordinates the master's degree program "Biocompatible Substances, Materials and Systems" within the Faculty of Medical Engineering.

The main research directions of the Department of General Chemistry are biomaterials chemistry; chemistry of materials used in electronics and electrical engineering; chemistry of industrial materials; environmental chemistry.
